These Ham and Cheese Sliders are my favorite way to use leftover holiday ham. Paired with Provolone cheese and topped with seasoned melted butter, these sliders are perfect as an appetizer, snack or lunch!
Sliders are easy and fun to make. If you are a fan of appetizer dips, you will love my Spinach Artichoke Dip Sliders too!
I am sure I am not the only one that always looks for easy and delicious ways to use leftovers from big holiday dinners. I make my Tetrazzini with leftover turkey and these Ham and Cheese Sliders with leftover Easter or Christmas ham. They are always a hit with adults and kids, simple to make and absolutely delicious! I used Provolone cheese because it melts great and has a delicious creamy flavor. The "everything bagel" seasoning is much better in my opinion than just poppy seeds. You can create your own with sesame seeds, dried onion flakes, dried garlic, sea salt, etc.
Ingredients:
- Hawaiian sweet rolls or slider rolls
- ham: I used leftover Christmas spiral-cut ham but any ham works
- cheese: Provolone, cheddar or Swiss
- butter
- mustard: Dijon or honey
- Worcestershire sauce
- seasoning: everything bagel or onion flakes, sesame seeds or poppy seeds
How to make Ham and Cheese Sliders?
- Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.
- Slice the buns horizontally in half. Place the bottom part in the baking dish.
- Layer ham, cheese, and the top bun part.
- In a small bowl, whisk butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning.
- Pour the mixture over the rolls.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Uncover the dish and bake for 2 more minutes.
What other buns can I use to make these sliders?
I use Hawaiian rolls because they are soft, sweet and pair perfectly with ham. You can use slider rolls (find them next to hamburger buns in grocery stores) or small dinner rolls. Look for those you can easily slice in half as a whole, fill and bake.

What ham can I use?
I used leftovers from our Christmas Ham. You can use any ham you like: honey baked, Black Forest ham, smoked ham, turkey ham, etc.
What to serve with sliders?
These sliders can be served with soup or chili, as well as potato salad, roasted vegetables, grilled fruit or vegetables and pasta salads. They fit really well with any buffet-style foods.
Can I make them ahead of time?
Sliders with ham and cheese are best made before serving. The prep time is really short, especially since ham and cheese can be pre-sliced.
How to keep the sliders warm?
Since the sliders are best served and enjoyed warm, I suggest keeping the baking dish covered with aluminum foil in an oven at low temperature, around 180 degrees F.

Ham and Cheese Sliders
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 12 ham slices see note
- 10 Provolone slices
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter melted
- 2 teaspoons honey or Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoon everything bagel seasoning see note
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Slice the buns horizontally in half. Place the bottom part in a 13" x 9" baking dish.
- Layer ham, cheese, and the top bun part.
- In a small bowl, whisk butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning.
- Pour the mixture over the rolls, spreading evenly over the tops.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Uncover the dish and bake for 2 more minutes.
- Remove from oven, let stand for a few minutes.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- We suggest 2 sliders per serving.
- Leftover spiral-cut ham slices are much thicker than deli sliced ham. If you are using deli sliced ham or any thin-sliced ham, double or even triple the amount.
- You can use Swiss or cheddar cheese as well.
- I used a 10.5" x 7.5" baking dish and the sliders fit snug.
- Please note, that the nutrition value can vary depending on what product you use. The information below is an estimate. Always use calorie counter you are familiar with.

I just had lunch, but your ham and cheese sliders makes me hungry again! I'm going to try this for sure. We are getting a honey-baked ham for New Year's Day, and the leftover ham will work well for this dish. Thanks for sharing!
