Honey Lime Dressing - one of my favorite dressings ever! You can make it for sweet and savory salads! So easy to whip up in your blender!

HONEY LIME DRESSING

The ease and ability to whip up a homemade dressing in a blender is a game changer for a salad lover like me. Forget the store-bought kind - it only takes a few ingredients (that you can pronounce!) and give them a whirl in a blender to create a smooth and absolutely fabulous salad dressing. Another favorite is my Italian Salad Dressing that is mixed in a jar!

All summer long, I have been making this Honey Lime dressing in two versions: for a savory salad (usually with Mexican flavors) and for a sweet salad (our kids favorite fruits!). There is something about the honey and citrus combo that makes it totally irresistible.

HOW TO MAKE HONEY LIME DRESSING:

  • Place all ingredients except oil in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Drizzle in the olive oil and blend until smooth.
  • Place in a jar with lid and store in the fridge for up to one week.

Sorry but I was disappointed with this recipe as is. For me the proportion of oil to the other ingredients is too high. I added twice the amount of juice and honey that the recipe called for and it needed salt and pepper too. I just like a strong tasting dressing. As is it tasted like oil with lime flavoring.

I just made this for dinner tonight. I cut the EVOO to 1/4 cup. It’s delicious

Can we use any other oil, if olive oil is not there?

You can use any mild flavor oil. Vegetable or canola will work well.

I'm confused on the calorie count, 389 per serving, and it doesn't list seving size. That's almost a whole meal count!

The whole recipe makes 3 servings at 389 calories each (~1000kcals for everything). But the one serving probably is enough dressing for a family sized salad. So you would need to divide the 389 proportionally based on how much of the serving you actually eat. Liquid volume of this recipe is 3/4 cup or ~200mL. A standard serving for salad dressing is 2 tbsp or 30mL. So you are probably still looking at around 175-200 calories if you eat 2 tbsp.

I'm sure this dressing recipe would taste even better whipped up in the Blendtec. Yum.

I love homemade dressings! They are super quick to make and aren't loaded with sugar and mystery ingredients like the store bought kinds.
