This Honey Garlic Shrimp is marinated in sweet sauce, then cooked together in a pan. Serve it with broccoli and rice for a quick and easy dinner!

This dish is easy to make, just like my Garlic Butter Shrimp and Teriyaki Shrimp. Seafood cooks quickly, so you can have dinner on the table in 15 minutes!

One of the easiest shrimp dinners you can make is this Honey Garlic Shrimp. It's made with 5 ingredients (plus salt, pepper and oil) that you most likely already have in your pantry and fridge. Easy yet bursting with flavor! Raw shrimp is marinated in sweet garlic mixture, then cooked until plump and juicy. Marinate is turned into sauce and everything tossed together. Talk about easy!

    Ingredients:

    • shrimp: I used jumbo size but medium works perfectly too
    • salt and pepper
    • olive oil
    • honey
    • garlic: freshly minced or jarred
    • soy sauce: I used low-sodium
    • sesame oil: optional but highly recommended
Ingredients in bowls on a board.

How to make Honey Garlic Shrimp?

    • Start by cleaning the shrimp. Remove shell and the vain.
    • Season shrimp with salt and pepper.
    • Mix marinade/sauce ingredients.
    • Place shrimp in a ziploc bag or a bowl, add marinade and stir in to coat the shrimp. Close the bag or cover the bowl and marinate for 30 minutes.

    • Heat up oil in pan.
    • Remove shrimp from bag with cooking tongs and cook in pan for 2 minutes on each side or until pink. Remove onto a plate.
    • Once done, add remaining marinate and simmer. If you want to make it thicker, mix 2 teaspoons of cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of water and add to sauce. Simmer until thick.
    • Serve sauce over shrimp or toss shrimp back to the pan and stir in.

Can I keep the tails on the shrimp?

While it can look pretty in a whole dish, I always remove the tail shell because oftentimes the vain breaks and there is a leftover of it in the tail. It will add that sandy/dirt taste to the dish and you do not want that.

What to serve with this shrimp dish?

I like to serve it with rice and steamed broccoli or stir-fried vegetables. For a refreshing addition, try my Thai Cucumber Salad.
