Easy Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bites Recipe - super easy candy idea for the holidays! Great gift for chocolate and caramel lovers!

I always make this treat for the holidays and serve it on a tray with my Sugar Cookies and Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies. They are so festive!

CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PRETZEL BITES

Our craving for homemade candy is in full swing. My Hubby has been asking me for days to make caramel pretzels and they finally happened. All dressed in chocolate and festive holiday sprinkles! Yes, please! I will take a dozen, thank you so much!

HOW TO MAKE PRETZEL CANDY?

We dipped the bites in semi-sweet and milk chocolate. You can dip the whole pretzel bite or just half of it or make a combination of both. They are fun and festive thanks to the holiday theme sprinkles. They will look gorgeous on your holiday table or packed in mason jars and given away to friends and family.

We love Christmas candy, especially if it's easy and involves caramel. Our goal with these pretzel bites was to use just enough caramel that it will melt into the pretzel holes and not go over it. Half of a caramel square was just perfect to achieve that!

Ingredients

  • 24 pretzels
  • 12 in caramel squares unwrapped, cut half, I used Kraft
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate melted with 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
  • Layer all pretzels on the sheet.
  • Place half of caramel squares on each pretzel.
  • Bake in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes. The caramel will be melty but not completely filing the holes of pretzels. It will spread as it cools. Cool pretzels completely before dipping in chocolate.
  • When cool, dip pretzels in chocolate (cover whole pretzels or dip halves). Tap against the bowl with chocolate to help excess drip off back to the bowl.
  • Place back on the sheet. Sprinkle with funfetti. Let cool completely.
  • Store in air tight container.

Notes

Please note, if your oven runs hotter, bake the pretzels for 4 to 5 minutes. The caramel is just suppose to be heated up to soften.

These look really good and my kids and I love chocolate covered pretzels. I made some this morning and I am a little underwhelmed. Maybe its the caramel that I don't care for, perhaps homemade would be worth the extra effort? (I used Kraft) They are okay....they also don't look as festive because the sprinkles don't stand out when put on top of the dark chocolate that I used. I put in the oven for 5 minutes and the caramel hadn't melted really much at all, rather just softened up a bit. I took them out hoping they would spread as they cooled like the recipe assures but that didn't happen, so I pressed down on the caramel with the back of a little spoon. This of course is just my opinion, nothing against the recipe itself....this was just my experience. Thank you for the idea though, my kids will gladly eat them up.

I just made these for co-workers. They were okay but the caramel didn’t melt down like the recipe said. They were way too chewy where the caramel sticks to your teeth. Next time I’m going to omit the caramel or use less caramel.

Maybe next time, try them with peanut butter instead. Just found a recipe similar that had peanut butter, not caramel.

I have made these 3 years in a row now! Just finished 2 big batches. I usually use the choclate chips with coconut oil, but I did use the chocolate candy coating this time. They still turned out perfect!

I can spend hours baking cookies and these were the ones the kids all went for. Next year I will have to double the batch if I want any. 🙂 Thank you for the recipe, it was a big hit!

Just curious as to what the coconut oil is used for and if it can be substituted? I have coconut allergies in my family

Vegetable oil can be used in place of coconut oil. I hope this helps!

Tried my first batch yesterday. I cut the caramel squares in half and put in oven for 7 minutes. The caramel melted through the pretzels and was almost burned to the bottom of the pretzels. Next time I may try the whole caramel square and less time???? Not one to waste caramel, pretzels, and chocolate my husband and I still ate most of the treats.
