Cook's Illustrated Chocolate Chip Cookies are the best cookies you will ever make. Perfectly crispy on the edges and chewy in the center, these cookies are bound to become your favorite!
COOK'S ILLUSTRATED PERFECT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the perfect chocolate chip cookie. In flavor, texture and look. The folks at Cook's Illustrated know what they are doing. Their recipes never disappoint me. That's why I was super excited to try this one. It's even called "the perfect chocolate chip cookie"!
These cookies are the most beautiful cookies I have ever made. They have a crunchy ring on the outside and deliciously chewy inside. The outer layer is crunchy too, leading you to the melty gooey center.
Note on the bread flour:
I used bread flour instead of all-purpose one, and I know it adds to the chewiness of these cookies. You can try either way. These cookies are simply perfect! They will be scrumptious and before you know it, only crumbs will remain on your plate. Yum yum!

Anna....these DO look absolutely perfect! (you can never go wrong with Cook's Illustrated!). But I'm so intrigued that you used bread flour to add chewiness. I'm going to have to try that in some other cookies as well! But these are beauties for sure! : )

Ashley says
Well, I didn't realize it wasn't in there until I got to adding the flour. I put things away as I go and had one ingredient left! The cookies turned out very good! They definitely flattened out more and don't look as firm as yours. Still excellent and very fast. I wonder If it was adding the soda at the wrong time, or if it's that I didn't do as many rounds at mixing and letting rest. I ended up with 20 though and only have 5 lefts after i had made them for company and my husband got home so they were a success! The browned butter just gave a very unique flavor. Great recipe! Thanks for responding back!
Anna @ Crunchy Creamy Sweet says
Yay! I am so glad you liked them, Ashley! They do have a tendency to disappear fast 🙂

I must be missing something, where is the baking soda going in? I just guessed and just took my first batch out of the oven. I hope I guesses right!
Anna @ Crunchy Creamy Sweet says
Hi Ashley! So sorry for the confusion. Baking soda goes into the flour and then butter mixture. I corrected the post. Hope you are enjoying the cookies!
Marina {YummyMummyKitchen.com} says
Behold! The perfect cookie! Honestly, there is nothing better than a chocolate chip cookie and these look perfect. I love the shot of your princess holding it. We need to have a playdate - just today someone at Trader Joe's asked if my daughter was on her way to ballet in her tutu - I was like, "Noooo, this is the regular wardrobe in our house." 🙂

That sounds fabulous, Marina! Our girls could play dress up and I could learn food styling from you! PS: I always swoon over your girls' photos!

Amanda @ Once Upon a Recipe says
The quest for the "perfect" chocolate chip cookie is never ending, isn't it? These look wonderful. I feel a hint of envy as most often, my chocolate chip cookies spread out too much. Any other kind of cookie turns out thick and chewy, but for some reason, I rarely achieve that goal with the chocolate chip variety. Perhaps this recipe will save me?
Anna @ Crunchy Creamy Sweet says
I usually have the opposite problem, they stay thick and fluffy 🙂 Spreading is tied to amount of butter. But these cookies are truly perfect - I hope you do try them! Thank you, Amanda! xoxo
Jessica says
Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well! 🙁 I wish I could come over and watch the kiddos so that you could get some uninterrupted rest!

Awww, you are so sweet, Jessica 🙂 So if I make you a plate of these cookies, will you fly in? 🙂 xoxo

She kept asking if I can take a pic of her taking a bite 🙂 Thank you, Emily!
