Fried Cabbage

Fried Cabbage with bacon is a simple yet flavorful side dish made with just a few ingredients. Make it in 20 minutes or up to 2 days ahead. Serve it with pork chops, pork tenderloin, roasted chicken or sausage.

  • 5 cups shredded green cabbage 1/2 of a head
  • 4 slices of bacon chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 2 teaspoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  1. In a large pan, cook bacon until crispy.
  2. Remove it onto a plate and set aside. If your bacon is fatty, spoon out half into a small bowl. You can use it later if needed.
  3. Add onion to bacon grease in the pan. Cook stirring often, until it turns translucent.
  4. Add cabbage and stir in. Fry for 4 to 5 minutes, if you like cabbage with a bite to it, or for 8 to 10 minutes, if you like it soft.
  5. Add bacon back to cabbage and stir in.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
