Candied Sweet Potatoes
These Candied Sweet Potatoes are baked in sweet sugar glaze. It's an easy and delicious holiday side dish made from scratch!
Servings 4 servings
- 3 lbs sweet potatoes
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter one stick
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 2 quart or 13" by 9" baking dish.
Peel potatoes and cut them into 1/2″ pieces.
Mix butter, sugar and spices in a bowl and microwave in 20-second increments, until butter is melted. Whisk well. Microwave for 20 seconds, stir again to make sure the sugar dissolves.
Place potatoes in prepared baking dish.
Pour sugar mixture over potatoes and stir to coat.
Bake for 20 minutes, stir, bake 20 minutes more, stir again and bake for 5 to 10 more minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes.
