10-Minute Teriyaki Shrimp recipe

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb medium or large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

for the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger optional
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water


  • toasted sesame seeds optional
  • chopped green onions


  1. In a measuring cup, whisk all of the sauce ingredients. Set aside, close to the stove.
  2. Heat up oil in a large skillet. Add shrimp in a single layer, season with salt and pepper. Cook until pink, 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  3. Pour sauce mixture over shrimp and cook on medium low heat until the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  6. Serve with rice or noodles and steamed vegetables, like broccoli.

Recipe Notes

All of the optional ingredients are not necessary but recommended for added flavor.
