The Best Baked Apples

The Best Baked Apples - classic fall dessert made to perfection! You will love all of the flavors in this dish!

Ingredients

  • 4 apples I used Red Delicious
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • 2 Tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • whipped cream
  • caramel sauce
  • cloves ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Wash and core apples. Place in a 2qt baking dish, leaving some space between them.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, mix together the filling ingredients: oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and molasses.
  4. Stuff apples with the filling.
  5. Add apple juice to the dish.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. ( The magic number for me was 49 minutes.)
  7. Let sit in room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Just before serving: (do not skip)
  9. Dress the apples with a dollop of whipped cream.
  10. Drizzle with caramel sauce, drizzling some over the whipped cream as well.
  11. Sprinkle nutmeg over the whipped cream.
  12. Serve immediately.
