This easy Focaccia Bread recipe makes the best and easiest homemade focaccia with garlic and Parmesan cheese. It's baked in a sheet pan and done in 40 minutes.
Pour water into a large mixing bowl. Add sugar and stir until almost dissolved.
Add yeast and stir in. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes OR until the yeast forms a foam on the surface. If it doesn't, your yeast is old and you need fresh yeast.
Add 1 cup of flour and stir in until the mixture is smooth. It will be runny.
Add another cup of flour and stir in. Stir for 2 to 3 more minutes. The dough should be smooth.
Add olive oil and salt and stir in.
Sprinkle ½ cup of flour over the dough and stir in. Continue until the dough is starting to shape a ball and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Shape into a ball. Add more flour if it still feels sticky.
Shape gently into a rectangle.
Lightly oil the bottom of 13"x9" baking sheet pan.
Place the dough in a pan and gently spread, pushing with your fingers.
Place the dough on your stovetop (turned off) and start preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. The dough will rise during this time.
Gently make indentations in the focaccia with your fingers.
Drizzle olive oil over the dough and drizzle hot water over the dough, especially on the edges.
Place focaccia in the oven on the center rack and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven, brush with melted butter with fresh garlic and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
Let it cool, then slice.
