  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 medium bananas very ripe
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line muffin pan with paper liners. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and cloves.
  3. In a large measuring cup, mash bananas. You should have 1 cup of the mashed mixture from 2 medium bananas. Add eggs, oil, sour cream, vanilla and sugar. Whisk together.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir with a spatula. Do not overmix. Stir in chocolate chips. Divide batter among muffin cups.

  5. Bake for 5 minutes in 375 degrees F. When the timer beeps, do not open the oven door but lower the temperature to 350 degrees F. Bake for 12 to 14 more minutes OR until the top is cracked and golden brown and the toothpick inserted in few spots in the center of the muffins comes out almost clean.
