You know how everyone goes crazy for chocolate dipped strawberries in February? It's a classic romantic treat.
Well, how about sharing cherries with your loved one while watching the sunset on a summer afternoon? Yeah, you are with me on this.
We took our kids to the park the other day. I watched them hang on monkey bars, slide down on slides squealing happily, throw their flip flops away and submerge their adorable small feet in the sand on a beach volleyball court. They had a blast! And so did we. No computers or tablets to distract us. Even our smartphone remained on silent.
It's August. Time to realize that summer will end soon and before we know it, we will find ourselves wondering where did the time go? Weren't we just longing for this time of year?
We are busy all the time. There is always so much to do. With three little kiddos, we often find ourselves exhausted in the end of the day. That's when one of us grabs the others' hand, a bowl of cherries, and we are heading to the backyard to enjoy the warm evening. I hope we'll still do that 50 years from now.
I hope you get to enjoy the local fruit in the peak of their season. Like cherries. And remember to freeze some, so when the weather turns cold and glummy, they will be there to instantly bring back your favorite summer memories.
Life is a bowl of cherries, enjoy it!
xoxo,
Anna

Eating a bowl of cherries and having pit-spitting contests are some of the best memories I have as a kid. 🙂

I love the sentiment of this post! It's so easy to get caught up in the virtual world and not simply enjoy life or pay enough attention to people actually in front of you. I love enjoying all the fresh fruit in the summer and cherries are definitely a favorite! We've found ourselves enjoying fresh watermelon a lot recently. Drizzling it with a little balsamic vinegar makes it an especially good treat.
Anna @ Crunchy Creamy Sweet says
Oooh, yes - the watermelon! Yumm! 🙂 I have to try your tip about balsamic. Sounds amazing! Thank you, Stephanie!

Oh how I adore cherry season too!! We have the best cherries grown right here in Montana and I yearn for August all year long. This is a sweet post and I love the idea of grabbing a bowl of cherries and enjoying the sunset with my hubs. We'll have to do that soon. Hope all is well!!

We are a cherry loving family! That first picture... amazing!! I tried to capture a picture like that when I took my cherry pictures... but my camera was not that great. You did an amazing job. 🙂

It was tricky but I love it too 🙂 PS: It's not about the camera 😉 Thank you, sweet Ramona! xoxo
