Mexican Layered Dip is a must for any party, get-together or especially a game day in our house. Layers of deliciousness packed into one irresistible dip. If I don’t serve my Chili Queso Dip ( the best queso from scratch recipe! ), I make this layered dip. It is always a hit!
This dip is made of layers of my favorite Mexican food ingredients. Refried beans and my guacamole with taco spiced sour cream are already delicious. Add flavor-bursting salsa or pico de gallo and a layer of shredded cheese and this dip will be gone in no time!
HOW TO MAKE LAYER BEAN DIP
Make this dip once, and you will be able to make it in your sleep. I love using a regular 9″ pie dish. Each layer equals 1 cup. Often you will find recipes calling for a thick layer of refried beans, but I like it when they don’t take over the whole dip with flavor. I use one cup of beans, once cup of guacamole ( this is the recipe I use, minus the bacon ), one cup of sour cream mixed with a tablespoon of taco seasoning, one cup salsa OR pico de gallo and then enough cheese to cover the top. I garnish the dip with sliced olives and chopped parsley. I am one of those people who can’t stand cilantro.
The dip is ready to be served right after making but you can also cover it with a saran wrap and refrigerate until serving. Serve with crispy tortilla chips and watch it disappear. It is so good!

- 1 cup refried beans
- 1 cup guacamole see note
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese see note
- 1/2 cup sliced black pitted olives
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or cilantro
Mix sour cream with taco seasoning.
In a regular 9" pie plate, layer: refried beans, guacamole, taco spiced sour cream, salsa or pico de gallo.
Top with shredded cheese.
Garnish dip with sliced olives and chopped cilantro.
Serve immediately or cover with saran wrap and refrigerate until serving.
Serve with crispy tortilla chips.
For the cheese layer, you can mix shredded cheddar and shredded Monterey Jack or even Pepper Jack cheese.
